Candidate for VP Wellbeing & Diversity

Hi, I am Nisha Bundhun, and I am running to be your Vice President of Diversity and Wellbeing for next year!

Who Am I?

As a third-year student studying criminology and psychology at the university, I have a deep understanding of not only the challenges and opportunities that students face today, but also of the social and psychological factors that contribute to wellbeing and diversity. I believe that I have the skills, experience, and passion to lead the way in promoting diversity and wellbeing on campus!

Experience

Throughout my life, I have demonstrated my commitment to working with others and serving my community. Through part time jobs I have develop strong interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. I have also honed my organizational skills.

I am also proud to have volunteered my time to support various causes over the years. For example, I have been a part of the Meet and Eat holiday meals club, where I helped to deliver weekly shops to underprivileged families in my community. Additionally, I have volunteered for four years, at Summer Camp, where I led groups of children in a range of fun and educational activities. Through this experience, I developed my leadership and communication skills.

My Goal:

Is to ensure that all students feel supported, represented and valued on campus.

To Achieve This, I will:

  • Plan events and activity’s such as cultural fairs, speaker events, and workshops that highlight the experiences of underrepresented student groups such as BAME, LGBTQ+ and disability students.
  • Regularly seek feedback from underrepresented student groups to understand their experiences and identify any areas for improvement.
  • Work with the university to develop targeted outreach and recruitment programs aimed at underrepresented student groups.
  • Campaign for Student Rights by working closely with the university to make sure that students' interests are effectively represent.
  • Enhance Mental Health Support by working with the university to expand mental health support services and make them more accessible and culturally competent to ensure that the service is responsive to the needs of the diverse student body. I will also work to raise awareness and remove the stigma around mental health through awareness campaigns/evens around campus.

All these goals are achievable, and I am confident that with my hard work and passion, I will be able to implement this and make a positive impact by improving the lives of all Royal Holloway students.

Thank you for your consideration.
