Mawadda Edbagi.
Candidate for VP Wellbeing & Diversity
Hi, I’m Mawadda, an Undergrad BA English and Digital Arts student seeking to make RHUL an happier, safer and comfortable environment.
I stand for accessible education and resources for all, equality regardless of social class, race, or religion, and university experience being beneficial, safe, and enjoyable. Being and MUN delegate, ambassador for social causes such as National FASD and Diana Award Anti-Bullying, and a minority myself, I am ready to change fellow students’ university experiences for the better, as my pledges, which I am dedicated to fulfilling, convey.
Your wellbeing:
- Implementing relaxation rooms throughout campus, which are safe, calm places for headspace in busy days.
- Allowing regular, ideally weekly, enjoyable activities to take place. These would be creative activities or laid back and sporty, to support both mental health and social experience. These would be for free, so everyone can benefit.
- Better reporting procedures, such as an online reporting system being available for those with issues to be able to access help.
- Improving accessibility for disabled students, including inclusive resources.
Your spirituality:
- Implementing multi-faith prayer rooms, so all can feel comfortable to practice.
- Allowing both religious and wellbeing speakers to come in for talks, to increase understanding and solidarity in our community.
- More religious holidays being celebrated on campus, which is especially important for those who are away from family and friends, as well as creating a cohesive environment celebrating our diversity.
Your education:
- Designated subject study sessions, so students of all years can help peers with their studies, as well as taking some stress off work.
- Making budgeting, scheduling, and wellbeing resources more readily available, to help with your university life.
I want to help YOU, so don’t hesitate to contact me on socials, @mawadda.rh, to communicate your issues and ideas, and keep up with my campaign #mawaddarhul. Together we can make happy and diverse community. Thank you
