Hello everyone! I'll begin with a brief true story about a 17-year-old boy who worked hard to fulfil his dream. Through his efforts and God's grace, he came close to realising his dream in three years, but he tragically lost everything he had worked for. He tried everything, but he wasn't ready to give up. In order to fulfil his dream, he started running again. Eventually, he crossed the miles and arrived at Royal Holloway University. Krisanth Thilak, he goes by that name. Yes, I am a businessman and entrepreneur - founder of the Oucceo movement and a Prayani group. I adore my university and that was precisely why I turned down over 12 offer letters from other educational institutions.
After I moved here, I struggled a lot with things like housing, departments and module-related issues, finance, language, and many other things. In addition to me, many of them that I know personally also faced the same problems as students . I used to think to myself that even though I did not have an official role on campus, I could help them because I'm a friendly person It was later that I came across the selection details on the university's website. I applied without thinking twice for the posts of Vice President of Welfare and Diversity because I firmly feel that if I were to be chosen for this job, I would be able to do a lot of things.
These are the list of things I'd like to accomplish if I succeed
- a university that is language-friendly (for a person lacking language skills, it is hard to communicate or translate your thoughts to words - so I want to highlight the benefits of a volunteer based student language welfare organisation from among students. This can help the students with language barrier to accomplish their educational goals with the help of their fellow acquaintances.
- Ethnic week - As we have a culturally diverse student group, promoting their culture and diversity through a different platform would be great. Ultimately, it’s not just dressing up in their traditional attire, every group has a rich heritage that needs to be protected and known!
- scholarship schemes
- strengthening of student organisations
I end my manifesto by quoting Albert Einstein, who said that the goal of higher education should not be to acquire a large number of facts but rather to develop the mind.
"Practise together, think together and create beautiful memories"
Thank you!
