Kayleigh Fryer.
Candidate for VP Wellbeing & Diversity
Hello, I’m Kayleigh, and I’m running to be your VP Wellbeing & Diversity!
The way we represent our diverse student body, meeting their social, cultural, and economic needs while ensuring a positive and safe student experience, is no easy feat. However, I have the experience, knowledge, and attitude to push us in the right direction to start seeing some big changes for the better. Having been a committee member, student-staff, and staff for SUs, my variety of experiences will lead to a multi-faceted approach to improving the student experience at Royal Holloway.
Improving the Wellbeing & Diversity offering at RHSU will come down to variety.
- Variety in education: researching ways to create an engaging and meaningful Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) programme for staff and students
- Variety in support: understanding that student needs for safety and wellbeing are vast and looking at ways to best support our whole student body
- Variety in events: more consistent low-cost and alcohol-free events during the day and the evenings
- Variety in guests: better utilising our alumni network and representing broader student interests for events and SU features
How will I deliver on these aims?
- I will research current EDI strategy across SUs and use student input to better our EDI strategy and education.
- I will use ongoing discussions and feedback surrounding wellbeing and safety, to keep students up to date on what is happening with their voices with more regular communication.
- I will continue to expand and promote the Give It A Go programme.
- I will run more alumni-led events and incorporate student voice when organising guests for wider SU events.

Since election results day 2022, I have: extended my studies, moved house (twice), and started working a new job at another SU.
