Who we are

As your Students’ Union, we’ll have your back throughout your university experience, whether that’s offering helpful advice on that niggling academic issue, campaigning for the changes you want to see on campus, or laying on great events and extracurricular opportunities through our student groups to give you a break from your studies.

Looking for a part-time job ahead of the new academic year? We've got you covered as we're hiring for a whole range of roles to support our services across the Students' Union!

Whether you're pulling pints behind the bar, designing posters to advertise our campaigns, or operating the sound and lighting at our events, there are an absolute ton of opportunities available to you.

In fact, we employ around 400 students every year, putting over £550,000 back into their pockets and helping them to develop a bunch of new skills.

Your Union

Say hello to your Officers!

Each year, four sabbatical officers are elected to work full-time in the SU. Hannah (President), Sharanya (VP Education), Nisha (VP Wellbeing & Diversity), and Alastair (VP Societies & Sport) can't wait to welcome you to campus!

They’ll represent your views and opinions, run campaigns, and work alongside Union and University staff to make changes that will positively impact your university experience. They’re passionate about making your time at Royal Holloway the best it possibly can be, so make sure you get to know them and what they're working on this year!

Student Communities

Making sure that you’re valued and represented during your time at Royal Holloway is one of our top priorities. That’s where our Student Communities come in, offering underrepresented groups a platform to have their voices heard.

Each Community is led by an elected student Community Officer who, as well as organising activities, events and campaigns, works with the SU to secure the general interests and rights of students. They are also running a number of events during Freshers’ Festival - check out the Events page for more information.

Representing your academic interests

Representing students’ academic interests is one of the core purposes of the Students’ Union and links strongly to our strategic aim of improving students’ education. One of the most prominent ways we do this is through our 400+ elected academic reps.

As a new student, you can volunteer to be the course rep for your chosen degree programme when recruitment opens on Monday 11 September. This is your chance to directly influence what happens on your course and give a voice to your peers!

SU Elections

The Students' Union is here to represent your views so that your time studying at Royal Holloway is a positive and enjoyable experience. By being the collective voice of students we are able to tackle pressing issues, lobby for social change and campaign on your behalf - using your views and opinions as guidance.

In Term Two, nominations open for the SU Elections where you can run to be one of our four full-time paid sabbatical officers for the 2024/25 academic year. Even if you’re not interested in running to be an officer, it’s really important that you use your voice when the voting period comes around in March.

I love a bit of democracy
