Accessibility

As your Students' Union, we're keen to promote equality of opportunity for people with disabilities and to take the necessary steps to meet their requirements - that's why we've ensured that everything we do is accessible to as many of you as possible.

If you or someone you know requires access to special facilities, please contact our Venues team - they're friendly folk and will do their best to meet your needs.

Venues

All five of our venues are wheelchair accessible via shallow ramps, including our recently renovated Union Plaza. The Union Venue, while being on two floors, has a lift so that the Helpdesk can still be accessed. This is available at all hours except during club nights.

Epilepsy

If you are affected by photosensitive epilepsy, please be aware that there may be some strobe-like effects used in the Students' Union Main Hall during late night events. There will always be areas within the venue which are free of these effects, such as Tommy's Kitchen and the Union Plaza.

As part of our aim to create a more inclusive environment within our venue operations, certain events have been designated as 'low risk'. With regards to our lighting provision at these events, no intense flashing will take place, slower colour changing movements will be introduced and the rotation speed of the intelligent heads will be reduced. Where possible, the size and shape of the colour beams will be altered to reduce crossovers.

If you’re attending a late night event at the Union Venue or Medicine please speak to staff who will be happy to assist you.
