To celebrate the news that we're bringing back the HouseSearch platform we've launched our latest Summer Ball VIP competition and it couldn't be easier to get involved.
Simply get in touch with your landlord and ask them to head on over to su.rhul.ac.uk/housesearch and register for updates. Once they've done this your name will go in the hat to win a ticket with the winner drawn on Friday 26 May.
The competition closes at midnight on Thursday 25 May.
Don't worry if you don't currently live in private accommodation we've got another great VIP ticket competition launching on 15 May so keep an eye out on social media.
What is HouseSearch?
HouseSearch is an online platform that will connect you with local landlords, estate agents and private halls when hunting for your next student property, kind of like Right Move but dedicated just to housing at Royal Holloway.
With such a wide range of properties available in the local area a key tenet of the new platform is our Quality Standards Framework which sets out a number of measures a landlord needs to take in order to advertise their property to you. Over the course of the next three years we aim to develop this framework in conjunction with both landlords and students with the aim of improving the quality of student housing across Egham and Englefield Green.
To give you a taste of what each level of the framework will entail, in year one we expect landlords to provide:
- An up-to-date Gas Safety Certificate
- A House of Multiple Occupancy Certificate (where applicable)
- Proof they use a Deposit Protection Scheme
These are only a small number of the requirements and we will place the full details of the Quality Standards Framework on the website when it is relaunched.
Over the next 12 weeks a lot of work will be going on behind the scenes as our appointed web developer builds the new site and we begin user testing ahead of launching in time for the new academic year, enabling post-graduate students looking for accommodation a new way to discover private housing in the local area.
