As your Students’ Union we’ll be here to help you throughout your university experience, refuelling you post-match in Tommy’s Kitchen, giving you helpful advice on that niggling academic issue you have, and laying on great events on a weekly basis - from the best value night on campus, Toast, to Summer Ball with Rudimental, Pigeon Detectives and a whole host of other massive names thrown in across the year.
This page is a quick run through of what to expect this year from us and how you can get involved.
Your officers
Each year the student body elects five Sabbatical Officers to work full-time in the Students' Union for a year, representing your views and opinions, running campaigns, and working alongside Union and College staff to implement policy change.

Representing your academic interests
It’d be very easy to think the Students’ Union was here to purely focus on the social side of campus life but that’s only half of the story. At the end of the day you’re here to get a degree and one of our core goals is making sure that this happens.
That’s why we run what’s known as the Academic Rep system. Yes, it’s not quite as sexy as a night out at the SU but this can be the difference between a first or second class degree. That’s because the system is made up of a mix of individuals that represent you and your course.
Course reps work on ensuring your degree programme is everything you expected it to be, department reps look at department-wide changes, faculty reps work across several departments to instigate change while the VP Education works across the wider College.
As a new student you can stand to be the course rep for your chosen degree programme when our annual elections open in October, giving you the chance to directly influence what happens on your course and give a voice to your peers.

Part-time jobs
We are one of the only Students’ Unions in the country to open part-time jobs to incoming first year students. If you’re looking to earn some extra cash while pampering yourself with our awesome staff perks - including free entry to our club nights and 10% discount on drinks and food at the Students’ Union - we have a wide variety of part-time jobs for you to get involved in.
From marketing and events through to bars and security, our part-time roles cover almost every aspect of the Union. Throughout the year we hire photographers, videographers, graphic designers, web developers, events assistants, bartenders, security teams, tech staff, and more. And it doesn't stop there - we also have built in progression and training schemes allowing you to develop even further.
Sound good? Check out our recruitment area to see what roles are open.

SU Elections
The Students' Union is here to represent your views so that your time studying at Royal Holloway is a positive and enjoyable experience. By being the collective voice of students we are able to tackle pressing issues, lobby for social change and campaign on your behalf - using your views and opinions as guidance. In December, nominations open for the SU Elections, where you can run to be one of our five, full-time paid Sabbatical Officers.

Bright Ideas
Bright Ideas is your opportunity to suggest anything at all that you'd like to change about your Students' Union, College or community. It doesn't matter how big or how small your idea is - think there should be more bins on campus? Or are you after a Union-wide campaign on a political issue? It's all possible, and it all begins with Bright Ideas.
Sounds good, let's have a look
