Accessibility

As your Students' Union, we're keen to promote equality of opportunity for people with disabilities and to take the necessary steps to meet their requirements - that's why we've ensured that everything we do is accessible to as many of you as possible.

If you or someone you know requires access to special facilities, please contact our Venues Team - they're friendly folk and will do their best to meet your needs.

Venues

All five of our venues are wheelchair accessible via shallow ramps, including our recently renovated Union Plaza. The Union venue, while being on two floors, has a lift so that the Helpdesk can still be accessed. This is available at all hours except for during club nights.

Events

As the majority of our events take place in our own venues, they are wheelchair accessible. There are a number of events, however, that take place outside of our venues. Where possible we have ensured that these are also accessible - the details of the events that are not accessible are listed below. If the event is not listed, you can safely assume that it is accessible.

Colour Run | 30 Sept

The route for this event includes steep inclines and steps, so you will not be able to complete the full route if you are a wheelchair user. However, the event covers a lot of campus so if you'd like to enquire about the route and discuss it further, please contact our Give It A Go team.

Ikea Trip | 29 Sept

Unfortunately as neither our Union Buses nor our coach services are accessible, it will not be possible to attend this event if you require a wheelchair.

Freshers' Fair Access Hour

We recognise that a loud, busy environment can be a bit overwhelming for some people. To ensure that Freshers' Fair is accessible to all, we're hosting an 'Access Hour' for the first hour of the second day of Freshers' Fair (Tuesday 25 Sept, 11:00 - 12:00). During this hour we'll hit pause on all the music and let fewer people in to ensure a quieter atmosphere for those who need it.

Epilepsy

If you are affected by photosensitive epilepsy, please be aware that strobe lights may be used during the late-night events. We will have first aiders on hand in case of emergency.
