February 2023
Wednesday 1 February marks the start of LGBT+ History Month in the UK. The month aims to increase the visibility of LGBT+ people and combat prejudice against the LGBT+ community. It is a chance to educate ourselves and others about the rich history of our community, celebrate current successes and fight for a more just future.
LGBT+ History Month 2023 focuses on #BehindTheLens. This will celebrate LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film from behind the lens including directors, cinematographers, screenwriters, producers, animators, costume designers, special effects, make-up artists, lighting directors, musicians, choreographers, and beyond.
We've got loads planned over the next month so please check out the events and blogs below to find out how you can get involved. Also, keep an eye on my social media @rhsusocsport as I'll be sharing loads of great resources, celebrating our queer community, and encouraging you to think about how you can contribute to the LGBT+ rights movement and the ongoing fight for justice.
For more information on my campaign or to chat about anything related to the LGBT+ community, please feel free to send me an email at VPSocSport@su.rhul.ac.uk. You can also reach out to LGBT+ Society which has a lovely inviting community!
