October 2024

This year, we’re celebrating the national theme – Reclaiming Narratives to recognise the work and life of Black Students and Academics who have made significant contributions and impacted the field. It’s an opportunity to shine a light on the discrimination and inequalities that Black people have historically experienced in Academia and Educational settings and still face to this day.

VP Wellbeing & Diversity, Olivia and VP Societies & Sport, Bana have worked with Black & Global Majority Community Officer, Piya to deliver a range of events to celebrate the achievements of Black Students and Academics and to spread awareness about the inequalities the community faces in the past and present to reclaim narratives for the community.

Get involved

There will be a variety of events throughout the month led by Olivia, Bana, and Piya alongside our African-Caribbean Society (ACS) who are collaborating with the Officers to deliver events such as the Black Creativity Showcase on Thursday 24 October in the SU Venue. To sign up to take part in the showcase, please find out more here.

For more information on the campaign or to chat about anything related to the Black and Global Majority Community please feel free to chat to our officers or send them an email at VPWellbeingDiversity@su.rhul.ac.uk or vpsocsport@su.rhul.ac.uk.
