October 2023
This Black History Month, we’re 'Saluting Our Sisters', focusing on the role of Black women in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. Alongside the Black and Global Majority Students Community and our African-Caribbean Society, we’ll be spotlighting Black students on campus – celebrating successes from the past, present and future through our events programme and awareness campaign. From an exhibition on the work of Black students at the library to a Zine Making Workshop led by sweet-thang zine to a Black History Month Open Mic Night, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate this October. If hitting the dancefloor is your thing, join us for a boogie at Medicine for Afro-Heat or get down to the SU Venue for Flawless Black History Month - don't forget to wear your colours!

This Black History Month’s national theme is “Saluting Our Sisters”, and at Royal Holloway we want to shine a spotlight on notable Black women that have attended Royal Holloway and Bedford College, currently work at the University, or are based in Surrey.
