Change direction of traffic flow around The Packhorse

    Expired
    • University Idea
The current one-way system around The Packhorse is a danger to drivers and pedestrians alike. The exit, currently set as the lower end of Egham Hill, is concealed between a bus-stop and on-street parking along the A30. Combined with the incline and curvature of the road, it is impossible to see traffic coming from the left as you exit the car park. I have seen many accidents close to occuring here as a result of people attempting to turn right in particular. By switching the flow of traffic so that the entrance and exit of the car park are swapped, it would make exiting the car park much safer for drivers and pedestrians as the current entrance offers a much clearer vantage point, allowing drivers to sre traffic coming from both directions, This will hopefully prevent any accidents occuring in this space. At the very least, no right turn signs should be placed at the car park’s current exit to prevent dangerous, risky driving.
