Believe it or not, we do actually do some work here at the SU. From the ideas you’ve submitted, we’ve managed to turn a good few of them into a reality. Have a look below to find out what we’ve been up to over the last year.
SWIPE CARD SYSTEM FOR THE BACK GATE
- 24 hour access has been approved by the College.
- Work on implementation will begin on 20 November.
- Trial period from 1 December.
- New lighting and CCTV to be installed.

IMPROVE THE SPORTS CENTRE
- Steff Milne has conducted two surveying sessions, one at the Sports Centre, and one at the library, generating just under 200 responses.
- The responses have now been compiled and will shortly be presented to the Sports Centre.
- The following have been implemented:
- New ab wheel.
- Resistance bands ordered.
- Music regulation.
- Changing room deep clean scheduled.
- More cleaning equipment.
- Cleaned all dumbbells.
- Staff cleaning/maintenance training.
- Improved communication with SU.
BRING YOUR OWN CUP AND GET A DISCOUNT ON YOUR COFFEE
- All coffee has now been discounted to £1, provided you bring your own cup
- If you don't bring your own, we'll charge you an extra 5op for a cup
MAKE SU AND MEDICINE BAR STRAW FREE
- Plastic straws have now been replaced by biodegradable paper straws.

REFUND STUDENTS' TUTITION FEES DUE TO STRIKE ACTION
- This idea has been implemented into the policy surrounding UCU industrial action.
- It calls on students to ask for their fees back so as to increase disruption.
BANNING 'BLURRED LINES'
- 'Blurred Lines' has now been banned from all of our venues and will no longer be played as part of our functions.

PROVIDE A FULL STI SCREENING/CONTRACEPTION CLINIC ON CAMPUS
- We are regularly running temporary STI Clinics on campus available to all students
- These clinics test for chlamydia, gonnorhea, and HIV
