About the roles
Course Reps
Course reps are the backbone of academic representation - we just couldn’t do anything without them! As the largest group of reps, they’re tasked with gathering feedback from students and doing the on-the-ground investigative work to make change at a module/programme level. They are also responsible for attending Staff-Student Action Meetings and maintaining a good working relationship with students they represent as well as Senior Course Reps and academic staff.
Senior Course reps
The Senior Course Rep role sits between Course Reps and School Reps to bridge this gap and ensure there is a constant flow of information across various levels of representation. They receive feedback from Course Reps and escalate it to School Reps if issues impact the whole School rather than individual departments.
They are also responsible for chairing the Staff-Student Action Meetings and maintaining a good working relationship with key members of academic staff throughout the year. Senior Course Reps must have been an academic rep in a previous year to be eligible for this role.
