Building Community, Leading Change

Our overall mission is to make student life better at Royal Holloway but how do we achieve this?

We are excited to launch our new strategy for 2024-2027 which sets out our four key aims. Everything we do as an SU links to these aims, and we’ll share our progress in these areas throughout your university journey.

Strategic Aims

Following extensive research involving students and key stakeholders across the University, we will focus our efforts on these four key strategic priorities to ensure we are delivering our mission:

Building Communities for All Students

Building Stronger Student Voice and Representation

Providing Inclusive Activity and Spaces

Providing Advice and Advocating for Students

How we run

Enabling Themes

Enabling our purpose and strategic aims, these areas and key objectives form the backbone of our plan. Firstly, we must recruit great people who share our values and believe in our mission, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. Next, we must get our governance in order and invest in our physical and digital infrastructure to ensure it is fit for purpose. We also need to think sustainably in our everyday practices to ensure RHSU and the environment can thrive for years to come.

Develop a People Plan that sets our ambition for our people, and how we’ll enable them to deliver our strategic aims, whilst valuing, supporting and developing them at RHSU.

Create a positive organisational culture which promotes development opportunities, collaboration and teamwork, and supports the wellbeing of all our staff.

Working with the University, develop a refurbishment programme to ensure all our buildings and facilities meet the emerging needs of students and provide welcoming, inclusive and safe environments.

Utilise research, insight and digital technology to effectively communicate with our members, driving awareness, engagement and participation.

Ensure RHSU is a robust, solvent and financially sustainable organisation and can support its core charitable objectives, strategic aims and priorities across 2024-2027.

Establish fit-for-purpose governance and democratic structures for the next generation of students and a modern, innovative students’ union.
