We are a society aiming to promote and provide a forum for discussing, sharing, and appreciating alternative music and arts. Whether you like Alternative rock, Doom Metal, Glam Rock, Jazz or even like listening to just static in your headphones, all tastes and opinions are welcome and we look forward to welcoming you into our Society.

Events

We host In-person socials every Thursday at 7:30pm the Happy Man Pub (12 Harvest Road, Englefield Green, TW20 0QS) with bar discounts for members.

We also advertise larger events which get announced on our Facebook and Instagram pages a couple of weeks before the event. Previous events include:

  • RAMS Medicine Takeover
  • RAMS Live Music Night
  • Karaoke and Open Mic Night
  • Halloween and Seasonal Parties
  • Themed Socials
  • Sea Shanties
  • Charity Events

Membership

Membership for the year costs £7. This gives you:

  • A special "Member" role on the discord
  • A discount to all large scale events that we will run in the term
  • A discount on a range food and drinks at The Happy Man pub

Awards

Although we were only ratified in 2019, we have already made a name for ourselves by winning Best New Society 19/20 and we also had the highest turnout during the 19/20 Student Elections. Second best in 20/21, only just beaten by Pokemon Society. Most recently, RAMS were awarded with the Fundraising and Impact Award at this years Society Awards!!!! We have some big plans for this year but also bigger hearts for all our dedicated members and we hope to see you all this year.

Community Elections 2025

This election will elect all student leaders within our student communities. These communities include Societies, Sports Clubs, Media Outlets, Academic Communities, and Inclusion Communities. You will also elect members of our Societies, Sports and Opportunities (SSO) Executive, who work with the VP Societies and Sport to develop policy and plans in their area of engagement. We will also be reopening nominations for the EPMS, Humanities and Law and Social Sciences (LSS) School Reps. For Student Groups, you must be a current Royal Holloway student and a fully paid, standard member of the group to vote. To vote for a Community Officer, students must self-identify with the relevant inclusion community on the RHSU website (in settings). In order to vote for a School Rep, you must belong to the relevant academic school. Please ensure you are logged in to your SU account to cast your votes.
