About Us
The society open to anyone with a passion for film, whether you are looking to create your first or your hundredth. No matter the subject you study, or the course you find yourself on, if you are even slightly interested in cinema & the filmmaking journey, we are here for you.
We are dedicated to providing a welcoming space where you can thrive creatively outside of your coursework and assignments, with a brand new Discord designed to help inspire you, as well as to giving the necessary support. If you ever find yourself looking for extra helping hands, whether it be cinematographers, makeup artists, actors or editors, this is the best place to start networking and building up your filmmaker portfolio with your fellow creatives!
On top of that, we will be holding a multitude of film-themed socials throughout the year; Q&A’s, Film Festivals, Cinema Trips, fundraisers & an Oscars watchalong, in addition to the casual film screenings on campus. Paired with our pub gatherings where you can freely discuss any films that we have recently watched or to simply meet up and unwind, we will be there for you whenever you need us!
FilmSoc were recently awarded the Most Improved Society at the 2022/23 Society Awards, and we've only just begun!
Whether you are interested in breaking into the industry or if you just love talking about films, this is the perfect place to make new friends, support your passion, and of course, have fun!
Membership
This year, we will be delivering out a full year membership for just £6.
By purchasing a membership for Film Society you will have access to all of our production meetings, film viewings (whether online or on-campus), socials, and any other event that we host, as well as the chance to meet a lot of like-minded and dedicated individuals with a passion for, both, watching and making films.

Social events such as SU events like Pop!, Flawless and CIYS (Come in your Socs), as well as more relaxed pub socials and screenings

Awards ceremony viewing parties, where we watch together ceremonies, particularly the Oscars
