We exist to celebrate the culture and history of the classical world, with members from departments across the university sharing our love of all things Greek and Roman. We seek to bring the department and university together and provide a welcoming space for students across Royal Holloway to collaborate and thrive, whether you are on campus or at home. We welcome students from all backgrounds, regardless of your degree choice.

We also hold weekly socials and welcome any newcomers, regardless of their knowledge of the classical world. One of our aims is to highlight how the Classics continue to be relevant today, yet this is not our sole focus; we provide a space for you to meet friendly, like-minded people who enjoy socializing and being actively engaged in university life opportunities provides. We focus on both the academic and the social, holding both academic sessions for our members to expand and develop their knowledge of the classical world, and social events to meet people who share the same passion for the Greek and Roman world, and beyond. Our established Discord server allows you to communicate with not only the committee to find out where and what our weekly socials will be, but is also home to a thriving online community of people who love the Classics. £5 Standard Membership Fee, which allows entry to all our social events including our day-trips!

Socials 

The society holds official socials for both members and non-members weekly on a Wednesday evening. Our socials tend to be relaxing nights where we do activities like watch Classics related films, play games, and have fun in each other’s company. On occasion, there will be weekend socials, which will be a bit more adventurous, as either a day of activities, such as trips to the British Museum and beyond. We take pride in making Classics accessible and strive to make our events and socials welcoming to all. We have an open mind and are happy to arrange a wide variety of socials and greatly value input and ideas from our members. So please do put forward any suggestions!

Regular Meeting Times:
