Refreshers

The winter break is over and now it’s time to go again and take on another term at Royal Holloway. To kick-start things and warm you up, the Students’ Union and College have teamed up to bring you a jam-packed week of events.

If it’s a massive night of live music from The Midnight Beast, clubbing in Jungfrau’s SnowBoxx with Charlie Tee or a brew and brekkie at Tommy’s we’ve got you covered.

That’s not all either. This week marks the launch of the SU’s new bargain Monday night offering, Toast, where ALL food and selected drinks are just £1.50 all night. You’ll also have another chance of meeting our brilliant clubs and societies at Refreshers and Housing Fair while snagging yourself those obligatory freebies.

Get the most out of Refreshers Week with our wristband deal. For £20 you’ll get entry to Juicy feat. Guilty Pleasures, Glitterbomb, Jungfrau’s Snowboxx feat. Charlie Tee, The Midnight Beast live with support from The Carnabys, Saturday night Flawless and the Underground Cinema.

That’s six massive events worth £27 for just £20. And we’re not even going to settle there. Arrivals Day Welcome

Moving back onto campus or your first day? Our team of volunteers are on hand to help take the stress out of moving while our Housing Assistants can help with any accommodation queries.

Come and grab your fresh fruit and veg, bread, cakes, sweets and Chinese food and treat yourself to some street food for lunch including Greek souvlaki, Thai noodles, Spanish paella and more.

Mature Students Tea

This casual get together is the perfect opportunity to mix with other mature students over a good old cuppa. Did we mention it’s all free of charge? Free brews for all!

Global Cafe

Our weekly tea and coffee session is back bringing together our international and home student communities. Pop up to Rialto on the second floor of the Students’ Union and meet some new people.

Postgraduates Students Afternoon Tea

Come down to Founder’s Dining Hall for a brew with fellow Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research students from across the College. Just like our Mature Students Tea it’s all free.

We’ve reinvented Monday night’s at Medicine and we’re offering up massive portions of food and a range of drinks all at £1.50 a pop. Live DJs bring the noise from 10pm to keep you partying into the early hours.

Glitterbomb is like *that* house party that goes down in history, the night out you’d rather forget and a Pornstar Martini all rolled into one. LGBT+ doesn’t always fit into a box, and neither do we. Come as a group, or come on your own and leave in a group. We’re bringing friendly back.

Jungfrau's Snowboxx ft. Charlie Tee // Wristband Event

Bringing the snow indoors, Jungfrau are taking the massive alpine festival Snowboxx on tour and you’re invited. Featuring Kiss FM’s Charlie Tee dropping the hardest hitting house and a whole bunch of exclusive Jungfrau offers this is going to be big. A pair of tickets to Snowboxx Festival will be given away on the night.

Underground Cinema // Wristband Event

Time for something totally different. Head to the Boiler House and enjoy a chilled evening watching a magical film including a white rabbit and a young girl in a blue dress. Watch out for the interval Mad Hatter’s tea party.

Midnight Beast Live // Wristband Event

Live music returns to Royal Holloway with the online comedy phenomenon The Midnight Beast taking to the main stage. Elevated to mainstream recognition with a viral bomb in Dec 2009 in the form of ’Tik Tok’, a hilarious parody of a Ke$ha song, the Beast built a huge online presence with their satirical music videos on their YouTube channel. Support is in the form of West London band The Carnabys.

Flawless

The final late night event of the week is here. Flawless your weekly dance, R&B, grime and hip-hop night returns for the New Year in Medicine!

For the fullest Refreshers experience we recommend you buy a wristband but we also understand that you may want the freedom to create your own experience throughout the week.
