Are you ready to vote in the General Election tomorrow? We're here with a voter checklist to make sure you have everything you need to exercise your right to democracy.
Attention, Royal Holloway students!
Are you ready to vote in the General Election tomorrow? We're here with a voter checklist to make sure you have everything you need to exercise your right to democracy.
Bring Your ID
1. You need to bring photo ID with you - These include a passport, driving licence, Blue Badge, PASS card, Voter Authority Certificate and more. The photo ID needs to be the original version and not a photocopy. You can still use your photo ID if it's out of date, as long as it looks like you. The name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote and you cannot use our Student ID Card.
Find Your Polling Station
2. Polling stations will be open 7am-10pm on Thursday - if you're in the queue by 10pm you will be able to vote. Not sure where you're meant to go? Check your polling card or head to the Where Do I Vote? website and type in your postcode.
Know your candidates
3. It's super important to do some research before heading out to vote. Find out who is running in your area and what the national parties stand for. Political parties have published their manifestos for the 2024 General Election but they can be pretty lengthy. Alongside our Hot Topics series, use the NUS Vote Matcher to see which parties you agree with most. NUS has summarised each of the parties’ positions on the issues that matter to students and young people.
And that's about it. So, set your alarms - it's almost time to VOTE!
