From lobbying the University to exploring discounts for students with local bus companies, we've put together a Cost of Living Action Plan to represent and support you during the crisis.
The country is facing a cost of living crisis that is having a detrimental impact on university students. The Student Academic Experience Survey (2023) showed that 76% of university students feel that the cost of living crisis has affected their studies. As your Students’ Union, we are working proactively to help reduce the financial and mental burden caused by the crisis.
What are we doing?
-
We have created a Cost of Living hub outlining different support that is available to you as well as detailing our plans for the campaign.

We have formed a campaign action plan that we are currently working on to support students. From lobbying the University to running our own initiatives, there are a number of different ways we are working to support you through this challenging period. You can view the full action list on our campaign page. If you have any further ideas or things, you’d like to see then please let us know.

We're also heading to the library with SU on Tour to talk to you about the rising cost of living and share the support available to you. We want to hear your thoughts, concerns and suggestions to improve the situation for students.
How can I get involved?
Share your story
As part of the campaign, we want to hear from students to understand the impact the cost of living crisis has had on them. This will help us shape our action plan as well as aid in lobbying and influencing external bodies.
