Community Officer

Due to a recent resignation, the Students of Faith Community Officer position is open now! This is a fantastic opportunity for all students of faith hoping to make a difference for their community on campus!

You might have already noticed the impact that our Community Officers are having on student life, so don't miss out on your chance to get involved alongside your studies this academic year. This position will be co-opted through a super simple process. Keep reading to find out how you can apply.

Who can apply for the role?

RHSU defines students of faith as anyone who self-identifies as following a religious belief or doctrine, and/or belonging to a faith or faith-based community.

What does the role involve?

The role is voluntary, working very closely with the VP Wellbeing & Diversity at the Students’ Union on planning and leading campaigns that raise awareness as well as defend and extend the rights of students of faith, and promote diversity, inclusion and equity. You'll also work with our other Community Officers to enhance the student experience and focus on intersectionality.

Acting as a chair for the Students of Faith Community Council, and collaborating with RHSU staff to ensure meetings run smoothly and members are equally listened to and valued as a main focus group for campaigns and feedback-gathering is a key part of the role. You'll work closely with the Multifaith Chaplaincy to ensure the interests of the University and the Students’ Union are aligned and the two organisations are working together to represent students of faith. And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

Okay… what’s in it for me?

Similarly to volunteering as an academic rep or student group committee member, this role will provide you with several skills that can help you in your academic and professional life. You’ll have the chance to engage with students and it will make your CV sparkle! From leadership skills to strategic thinking to problem-solving and decision-making, you'll learn an incredible amount that will prepare you for the world of work.

Check out the job description for the full rundown of everything you'll gain from the role.
