Student Safety Survey

From SU President, Sharanya - As part of my ongoing campaign to improve student safety at Royal Holloway, the Students’ Union has launched the Student Safety survey to get your feedback on how safe you feel in Egham and Englefield Green. We also want to learn more about your travel patterns to and from University in the day and night.

About the Project

In the 2024 Student Leadership Elections, I made a commitment in my manifesto to championing safe routes for students. This includes revisiting the closure of the back gate and addressing its impact on students, as well as improving lighting on campus and in the surrounding Egham and Englefield Green areas.

As part of this work, University and Student Union Senior Leadership Team went on a night walk around our campus to identify areas of concern related to lighting and safety. This walk provided a valuable opportunity to pinpoint poorly lit routes, and I’m pleased to announce that new and improved lighting will be installed as a result.

Building on this, a similar walk will soon take place in the Egham and Englefield Green areas to identify any safety concerns specific to our students. This is where your input comes in - by completing the student safety survey, you’ll provide us with valuable insights into your travel patterns and the routes you take, enabling us, the University and other stakeholders to make informed decisions and ensure your safety is a top priority.

The Survey

We want to find out how safe you feel on campus and in the Egham and Englefield Green areas. We also want to learn more about how you travel to and from the University during the day and at night.

Take the survey now!

They survey will close on Sunday, 15 December at 23:59.

Next Steps

We will share the results with the University, Runnymede Borough Council and students in the New Year.
