Below we have broken down some of the survey results into themes around our activities and services, our overall performance, five key aims and your opinion about ways we can improve as a Students’ Union.
Every May, we ask standard questions in our annual Rate Your Union survey about your experiences using our services over the last year, which help guide our plans for the next academic year. As members, you’re best placed to tell us what we’re doing right and, more importantly, where we can improve as a Students’ Union. We analysed the results over the summer, and we want to share what we’ve learned from the survey. Below we have broken down some of the survey results into themes around our activities and services, our overall performance, five key aims and your opinion about ways we can improve as a Students’ Union.
What We Learned
This year, Rate Your Union had a maximum of 951 student respondents for Section A of the survey, which asked students last year about their experiences and satisfaction with the Students’ Union. The number of answers to each question varied, however, depending on logic skips, previous answer choices, engagement with activities and services, and whether students completed section A.

Overall Performance and Five Key Aims
We asked students in the survey, ‘How would you describe the Students' Union in three words?’ Below shows the results for the top positive, neutral and negative words we received from students.
Three Words
Every year in the survey we ask students about what sort of changes they would like to make to their student experience at Royal Holloway. We focus these questions in three areas: the Students’ Union, the University or academic department and the local community. We have shared below the top answers we received from 800 students about the changes they would like to see in the SU!

What's Next
These are just some of the figures we’ve pulled from the survey. Over the summer we reviewed all the student feedback from Rate Your Union and used that information to implement positive changes in our activities and services to improve your experience with the Students’ Union. We created a RYU Action Plan tracker on our website which shows the progress of these changes to our services. We will be updating you regularly on our website and social media throughout the academic year!
