Hi everyone,
Exams are just around the corner so we thought we’d update you ahead of the Spring Term Assessment Period (w/c 8 January). You should receive your exam timetable today, Wednesday 29 November via Campus Connect in the 'My Studies/Exams Details' section.
If you are taking exams in the Spring Term (in person/online) make sure to read the Student Guide to Assessment 2023/24.
Bring your ID!
- No ID – no exam! If you do not bring an acceptable form of ID, you will be turned away from your exam. Please note that failing to sit an exam because you forgot your ID is not an acceptable Extenuating Circumstance.
- If you arrive on campus and realise you have forgotten to bring any ID there will be a helpdesk available for you to obtain a one-time use ID for an exam. Reminders of this will be posted at each exam venue.
- Note that this station will open one hour before exams and close again thirty minutes after an exam starts. Time lost obtaining this temporary ID will not be given back in your exam.
- If you forget your Student ID Card, a valid passport, photo ID driving licence or government-issued national photo ID card are all forms of alternative ID that will be accepted (a physical copy is needed, not a picture on your mobile phone!)
Remember...
- Mobile phones and smart devices are not allowed in exams, turn them off and put them in your bag. Getting caught with one will result in penalties of varying severity.
- Arrive thirty minutes before your exam is scheduled to start, this permits you time to remove any labels from water bottles, ensure your calculator has the appropriate department label and that any pencil cases are transparent.
- Get your candidate number from Campus Connect early and keep it on a piece of paper. If you don’t have one, contact your school before the end of term so there is time to get one!
Preparing for your exams
- Make sure to practice sitting an exam – this means testing yourself with past papers and sample papers in exam conditions. It’s a great idea to familiarise yourself with the process so you’re not nervous on the actual day.
- Make sure to stay hydrated and well-nourished. Your brain and body need fuel to ensure you can work at full capacity and excel in your exams!
- Find your venue before the day of your exam! You get your timetable early so that you can find your venues before the day to avoid stress.
- Take breaks in between studying! It’s important to revise and prepare yourself but it’s equally important to take care of your wellbeing! If you’re finding yourself struggling with exam-related stress, please reach out to Wellbeing or the SU Advice Centre for support.
We hope this has been helpful, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out by email.
