Education Executive
The Education Executive focuses on education and the academic experience at Royal Holloway, including talking about teaching, assessment or resources needed to campaign for the improvement of academic life.
Who leads the Education Executive? The VP Education!
Hi everyone!
I’m Sharanya, VP Education at the Students’ Union. I graduated in the summer this year with a BSc in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and am now undertaking my role as a Sabbatical Officer! My role focuses on improving the academic experience on campus and having a real impact on the academic rep system, empowering students to make change on their courses and within their departments. I bring a student perspective to University meetings such as Academic Board (a committee where the academic strategy of the University is decided).
As part of my role, I chair the Education Executive which acts as an outlet for student voice. We discuss all the things that relate to your academic experience and is a way for your peers (your school reps and academic community officers) to voice your feedback and concerns. It’s also a means of keeping myself accountable – ensuring I act on what I was elected to do! I’m excited to create positive change from the discussions that we have at Education Executive.
To keep up with what I get up to throughout the year, check out my social media @RHSUEducation. Don’t hesitate to pop by Sabb Drop-Ins (Thursdays from 1pm – 3pm at the Helpdesk) or send me an email (vpeducation@su.rhul.ac.uk) if you’d like to have a chat!
Who attends the Education Executive?
The role of the attendees, apart from providing feedback and their own experiences to inform the work of the SU, is to hold the VP Education accountable for their work, providing support and acting as a critical friend.
