>> Tell us about yourself

I am Ewan Strangeways (they/them), and I am currently in my 3rd year of Drama with Acting here at Royal Holloway. Acting, drama and film are passions of mine and so they do spread to my interests outside of uni and my coursework (as well as vice versa), so I try to watch all the interesting new releases in cinema or streaming services, I read (and adore watching their cinematic counterparts and seeing which bits were kept, changed or completely thrown out the window), I love all sorts of music and will always have my headphones on me (my Spotify liked songs list has over 10,500 songs... yikes). Outside of those though, I am an active person, I grew up ice skating, playing basketball, hiking, river rafting, etc and I like to stay active. I am part of the Student Workshop this year as their Producer; I have also been involved with the Shakespeare Society, the LGBTQ+ Society, Wargames, and I host my own show on the student radio station Insanity 103.2!

>> What made you want to become a School Rep for 2024/25?

I signed up to be a Course Rep in my first year, a Senior Course Rep and a Mental Health and Wellbeing Student Champion in my second year, and becoming a School Rep felt like the right next step. I found that I was very involved with the university community and in a very different way than other PDA students - I sign up for focus groups, talk to people across departments about the layout of their courses, and generally question why courses are laid out the way they are and what the best ways of including, supporting and building an evolving foundation for future students are. I wanted to make the most of my time at university, make it the best I could, and now that I am in my final year, I want the incoming and future students to get the most out of their time as well.

>> Which part of your manifesto are you most excited to work on?

Everything and more! I want to work on what ever is important for the students in the PDA department - that is my main goal.

>> What are you most looking forward to this coming academic year?

I am excited to see what this year holds in regard to the School Rep role, what the Student Workshop gets up to, what pieces the performing arts societies will put on, and to be able to continue to work with my friends in classes on developing our skills and ideas.
