We're introducing you to each School Rep and today we've spoken to Dominika, from the School of Life Sciences and Environment. Scroll through to learn more about Dominika and her goals as a School Rep.
>> Tell us about yourself
My name is Dominika (she/her) and I am your new Representative for the School of Life Sciences and Environment! I am going into a busy Year 2, studying Biochemistry. When I’m not studying you can find me drinking a delicious flat white, writing, reading or petting a cat. Speaking of cats, I adore them- I’ve got a fat ginger cat of my own, his name is Frank (but he might as well just be called a menace, because he is one). I’m looking forward to joining some new societies this year so you might see me pop into one of yours!
>> What made you want to become a School Rep for 2024/25?
I was inspired by my SSAMs team to become a School Rep- I had been a course rep for biochemistry, so I knew how important student feedback was, but I felt as though communication between students and professors can be difficult. I wanted students like myself to feel empowered and excited about learning, and not be stuck confused or troubled. That’s why I wanted to step up as a School Rep, to (hopefully) improve communication and strengthen the bridge between students and professors.
>> Which part of your manifesto are you most excited to work on?
I am most excited to work on improving student and teacher communication; in specific, I am looking to implement a Q&A feature to lectures/modules to improve lecture structure to centre around student learning! Aside from the classroom, I will be working on improving the Feedback system amongst students and reps so that students are given the right tools to pass on feedback and receive the actions to their feedback, back!
>> What are you most looking forward to this coming academic year?
This year I am most looking forward to chatting with students! I am excited to meet all the Senior Course Reps, Course Reps and Students that are under the LSE school, getting to know their thoughts on their departments and how we can continue to support them and their learning.
