As your Students’ Union, we want to give all students an opportunity to be heard. We are launching a survey on the international student experience at Royal Holloway, and your insight is invaluable in helping us improve life for future international students!
International students have been struggling in recent years, especially with the rising cost of living, recent changes in the UK’s immigration rules, and difficulties adjusting to life in the UK and at university. Royal Holloway currently has support in place to help students’ integration, such as an International Advice team and culture-specific events that are organised throughout the academic year. The Students’ Union also offers societies for students from all different backgrounds to help everyone feel part of a community. Still, some students may feel like they are not fully immersed in life at university, and they may face financial or emotional barriers when they try to reach out for support.
The Survey
More work can be done to allow international students to make the most of their time at Royal Holloway. That's why we are launching a short survey on your experiences as an international student. We want to gain more insight into what you think is going right and where improvement is needed while studying at Royal Holloway. The survey will also ask if you have felt welcomed by other students and staff, how your friendships have formed, and how the cost-of-living crisis may have impacted your experience. Your feedback will help us kickstart our work for the next academic year when we investigate the international student experience in more detail. Complete the survey now to help create impactful change for future international students’ experiences!

Next Steps
We will collate your quantitative and qualitative feedback from the survey once it closes and share the results later this summer. This information will be used to guide what elements of the international student experience we examine more closely next academic year. This work will help us make recommendations to the University and ultimately improve the international student experience at Royal Holloway. We will keep you updated on the progress throughout the project!
How long will the survey be open?
The survey will close at midnight on Sunday 9 June.
