The second survey for our Commuter Student Experience Policy Inquiry is now live!

>>The Project

Last term we launched our Commuter Student Policy Inquiry with a survey. We had 654 commuter students participate, and we recently shared the results. Since then, we have hosted a paid, in-person focus group to gain deeper insight into the commuter student experience, and we ran a journal activity to see what a typical week looks like. Both projects had representation across Schools and different year groups at Royal Holloway, and we learned so much. The results from the Term One survey, the focus group and journal activity have helped inform the questions for our second survey.

>>The Survey

This time we want to delve deeper into your student experience with more specific questions around your student experience. Do you feel the trains and buses are affordable, or are the transport schedules unreliable? Does your university timetable work for you as a commuter? Have you had any issues with commuting and assessments? Maybe, you experience barriers in attending evening and nighttime events or would like the option of one-off overnight accommodation. Alongside these questions, we want you to help us at the Students’ Union to co-design daytime events that suit your availability and interests by selecting the types of events and activities you are interested in. You can let us know by filling in the survey!

>>Cash Prizes

Last term we gave a total of £275 back to six lucky survey participants. This time we are giving away even more! There are ten cash prizes to be won – a total of £425.

  • Five £25 cash prizes

  • Four £50 cash prizes

  • And one lucky winner will get £100 cash prize after the survey closes.

You will need to complete the entire survey to be eligible for a cash prize. We will be announcing the winners over the next two weeks while the survey is live. The sooner you complete the survey, the more chances you have to win a prize!

>>How long will the survey be open?

The survey will close at 23:59 on Sunday, 6 April.

>>Next Steps

We will share the survey results with students after we analyse your responses. The results will then be shared with the University and the Students’ Union Senior Leadership Team. A list of recommendations will also be shared with the University and Students at the end of Term Three.
