Did you want to become a Student Leader? Do you want to gain invaluable skills and have fun whilst doing so? Yes? Great news! Nominations are now open for several different elected roles across campus in our Community Elections!

Previously titled, ‘Summer Elections’, the Community Elections are here to find and elect our Student Leaders across all our Student Communities including Student Group Committee Members, SSO Executive Members, School Reps or a Community Officers. Nominating yourself to become a student leader means that you will have a direct impact on student experience at Royal Holloway.

Student Group Elections

If you're an active student group member, now is the time to nominate yourself for a student group committee position. As a committee member, you'll become a leader of your group and leave your stamp on student experience at Royal Holloway!

While it may seem like a lot of work, it is one of the most rewarding things you will do at university, allowing you to meet new people and share in opportunities, whilst also adding great value to your CV.

Who can run?

Only current Royal Holloway students, who will still be studying in the 2025/26 academic year can nominate themselves in this election.

You must also be a member of the group(s) you intend to run for, so make sure you have bought a standard membership (even if it is a free membership)!

Societies, Sports and Opportunities Executive Elections

Nominations are also open for the Societies, Sports and Opportunities Executive (SSO); if you're passionate about student groups and activities on campus, stand now to become a member of SSO!

The SSO Executive is a committee of elected student representatives, who meet termly to discuss ratifying new student groups, approving the annual allocation of resources to student groups and holding the VP Societies and Sport accountable for their work.

Who can run?

To nominate yourself to become a member of the SSO Executive, you must be a current committee member of a society, sports club or media outlet.

If you'd like to take up this opportunity to have more say and influence on how our student groups are run, nominate yourself to join the Executive.

Community Officers Elections

If you're interested in driving forward our Student Communities by coordinating activities, leading on campaigns and representing your community in all corners of university life, stand now to become a Community Officer!

Communities give underrepresented groups the best platform possible to have their voices heard on campus and beyond. The Community Officers lead their community through supporting and representing their members.

Who can run?

To nominate yourself to become a Community Officer, you must self-identify with the Community.

We’re looking for Community Officers to represent all 10 groups across campus. To find out more about our Inclusion and Academic Communities, click here.

School reps

Each school has a rep who will advocate for the academic interests of students throughout the academic year. This is a part-time voluntary role working closely with the VP Education on gathering feedback and implementing positive change in high level meetings such as the School Education Committee and School Boards. Take a look at the work done by your School reps!

We are looking for Students to nominate themselves to represent the School of EPMS, School of Humanities and School of LSS as these positions weren’t filled in our Leadership Elections.

Who can run?

To nominate yourself to become a School Rep, you must belong to the corresponding School.
