With the Summer Ball you didn’t get to have just around the corner, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for!

We know it’s been a tough couple of years, so we’ve pulled out all the stops to put on an extra special Alumni Ball line-up for our Royal Holloway grads. Not one, not two but three massive acts will be heading up the party of the year on Saturday 4 June.

We’re absolutely ecstatic to announce that Sigma (DJ Set), Example and Karen Harding are taking centre stage at the Alumni Ball. Not only will you be able to take to Founder’s Quads once again, but you’ll also be partying with some legendary live acts.

With support from the likes of Katie KittermasterSick Trumpet and more, it's set to be an incredible night. And if that wasn’t enough, RuPaul’s Drag Race favourites Cheryl Hole, Vanity Milan and Danny Beard are joining us right here on campus!

Meet your headliners

Sigma

Sigma stand at that meeting point between dance music and pop, pioneers of a radio (and stadium) friendly sound that's seen the duo shift over 4 million singles, clock over 308 million YouTube views, and play stages from London’s Brixton Academy, Roundhouse, and Fabric, to the UK’s Glastonbury (in front of 100,000 people), Reading Festival (where thousands danced outside of a packed Radio 1/NME arena), and further beyond with sold out shows across Australia and New Zealand, Amnesia in Ibiza, and EDC in America.

As Sigma’s profile skyrocketed, Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie quickly found themselves collaborating with a dizzying array of artists, including Take ThatLabrinth, Rita OraElla Henderson and Maverick Sabre.

Their single 'Nobody to Love' topped the UK Singles Chart in April 2014, becoming their first UK number one. The duo would top the charts again soon after with their follow-up single 'Changing', featuring Paloma Faith.

Debut album 'Life' released in 2015 would go on to peak at number 2 on the UK Dance Chart and they’ve achieved consistent chart, streaming, and radio hits alike (no other act has enjoyed as many UK national radio playlists).

Everyone should experience the duo’s incendiary live show at least once. Part gig, part rave, it’s a winning formula that’s seen them grab rave reviews.

Sigma's second album 'Hope' is due to be released on 17 June 2022.

Example

On the brink of releasing his eighth album, Example is beginning a new chapter. Having spent well over a decade in the game, the UK mainstay has crafted a career drenched in accolades: Platinum albums, chart-topping singles, headline festivals slots, and a lengthy stint releasing inescapable anthems that bridge the gap between electronic, rap and pop. Still, Example isn't ready to hang up his boots just yet; rather, he's preparing for the most important release of his career.

The first taste of that album comes via 'Every Single Time', a single that features one of Australia's most acclaimed producers, What So Not. The release builds off Example's rich history down under, a country that he now calls home. In past years, he's headlined events like Stereosonic alongside Avicii and Calvin Harris, Groovin The Moo, Parklife and opened for Drake at the last ever Future Music Festival.

Did you know?

Example (real name Elliot Gleave) is an alumnus of Royal Holloway! Having graduated in 2004 with a BA in Media Arts, Example was awarded an Honorary Degree (Doctor of Music) in September 2021 in recognition of his achievements as a singer, songwriter and record producer.

Karen Harding

With over 400 million combined streams and just shy of three million monthly Spotify listeners, Karen Harding is a household name recognised for featuring and co-writing on a number of infectious dancefloor slayers, including the platinum-certified smash hit 'Say Something' and 'Undo My Heart'. You may also be familiar with ‘It Must Have Been Love’ - a stripped back ballad that was a favourite on the 2020 edition of Love Island.

Since launching her smash top 10 debut single ‘Say Something’ on Method Records (Disclosure, Tourist, Lxury), Harding has co-written and produced with Grammy-nominated wunderkind MNEK as well as featuring and co-writing with some of the best in the business including Blonde, Tujamo, Wilkinson, Giorgio Moroder, Kream, Le Youth, Paul Woolford and Purple Disco Machine to name a few.
