If I had a pound for every time someone asked me what I do in a day, I’d probably be a millionaire by now! So, here’s a glimpse into what a typical day looks like for me
If I had a pound for every time someone asked me what I do in a day, I’d probably be a millionaire by now! So, here’s a glimpse into what a typical day looks like for me:
07:00 – 08:00: Starting the day
Wake up, grab a coffee, and munch on some breakfast while catching up on a quick episode of something on Netflix. It’s my little moment of calm before the day gets going!
08:00 – 09:00: Getting ready and heading to work
After my morning routine, I enjoy a walk to work—it’s a nice way to clear my mind and get some fresh air before the busy day ahead.
09:00 – 10:00: Emails and planning
Once I’m at my desk, I start by checking my emails and reviewing my schedule for the day. This is when I respond to any time sensitive queries or concerns.
10:00 – 11:00: Meeting with the Performance Sports Officer
Meeting with Tom Cooper, our Performance Sports Officer at Active Lifestyle and Sport (ALS). We discussed one of my key manifesto aims: reintroducing strength and conditioning classes. Exciting stuff!
11:00 – 12:30: Back to emails
Back in the office, I dive into more emails. Depending on the time of year, my inbox can range from 10 to 40 emails a day—so it's all about keeping on top of things!
12:30 – 13:00: Lunch break... and another coffee
13:00 – 14:00: Varsity catch-up meeting
I meet with Surrey University to go over this year’s Varsity plans. We discuss the fixtures layout and confirm which of our teams are participating.
14:00 – 15:00: Officer Group meeting
Link up with fellow officers and union managers come together to talk about ongoing campaigns and address any emerging issues. It’s a valuable time for teamwork and sharing ideas., because teamwork absolutely makes the dream work!
15:00 – 16:30: Ratifications and feedback
I spend the afternoon reviewing ratifications and sending feedback to students. It’s important to ensure everything runs smoothly and that students feel supported in their activities.
And that’s a wrap on a day in the life! Each day is different, but it’s always packed with opportunities to make a difference for societies, sports, and the wider student community.
