Whether it’s food, drink, or a little boogie you’re after, we can usually provide something to keep you happy! Considering visiting campus has been a little difficult for the past six or so months, we've created a full 360 degree virtual tour so you can get to know our venues ahead of joining us in September.
Launch the tour
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve had to make some changes to our venues, but here’s a rundown of what we usually have to offer:
Tommy’s Kitchen
Situated downstairs in the SU, we serve the best burgers on campus, catering for all dietary requirements. Grab yourself a bite to takeaway, sit in for a meal with mates, or chill outside with our seating area on the Union Plaza. Oh, and if hummus and pita is what you dream about at night, make sure you check out Humpit – you won’t be disappointed!
The Packhorse
The Students' Union's very own pub, situated just across the road from campus. If you're a foodie or a sports fan (or even both), you're in luck. We screen live sport seven days a week and we have a new food menu, featuring all your favourite burgers and pizzas, for you to sink your teeth into. We also put on loads of great events throughout the year, including our popular Pub Quiz every Sunday.
Union Venue
Home to our weekly Wednesday and Friday club nights (although we won’t be able to hold these for the foreseeable future), we’ve had some incredible artists performing over the years from Sigma and Andy C to Don Broco and Daniel P. Carter. The Union Venue also plays hosts to a number of society events and performances throughout the year.
Medicine
Fresh from a £650k refurb in the summer of 2018, Medicine is a multi-purpose venue that usually hosts society events, meetings, and Toast - the cheapest club night on campus. We’ll be making good use of the beer garden to bring you some outdoor events during Term One.
Summer Ball
Okay, not technically a venue but we're the only people that are allowed to host huge parties in the iconic Founder's Building. On a normal year, that would include Freshers' Ball but our headline event, and the biggest every year, is Summer Ball. Taking place in June, this massive event sees 3500 students coming together to celebrate the end of the academic year. Previous headliners have included Mabel, Chase & Status, Rudimental, Example, Lady Leshurr and loads more.
We're a not-for-profit charity
We may run a lot of events at our venues, but every penny spent on tickets, food and drinks goes straight back into services for you, such as funding our Advice Centre which can help you with any issues you have during your time at university.
