Conservative

Who Are We?

The Royal Holloway Conservative Society is a welcoming community for supporters of the Conservative Party and all like-minded individuals.

We maintain strong ties with local political organisations, including but not limited to Windsor Conservative and the Runnymede and Weybridge Conservative Associations. This has enabled us to connect directly with the Windsor MP, Jack Rankin, who has hosted exclusive events for our members. We also collaborate closely with the Egham and Thorpe Conservative branch to maximise our local outreach and impact.

while campaining is a primary focus of ours, the society offers an excellent social calendar throughout the year. Events range from relaxed pub socials and trips to parliament to formal dinners hosted by wider Conservative associations. Through this, we hope to help you, and us, build our network.

Our dedication was recognised in 2025 when we were nominated for "Best New Society" at the Student Union awards!

Join Us

By being a member of the Conservative society you'll have access to our events throughout the year.

While all are welcome to our meetings, we highly recommend acquiring a membership to ensure you get priority access to our most popular events, especially those with limited capacity.

This year, the committee is dedicated to providing an exciting and fresh calendar of networking sessions, social events, and high-profile guest speaker talks, held on campus and in partnership with local Conservative Associations.

In addition to that, our goal this year is to make you as employable as possible within the Conservative network. Outreaching to members of parliament, Lords, political staffers, and many more high profile individuals can help you gain the best out of a political career.

Get Involved!

  • Pint & Policy: A long-standing tradition of the RHUL Conservative Society, where we meet to discuss politics of the day, as well as policy, whilst having a drink!

  • Cross political society socials: An important event for increasing the political landscape at RHUL. Our meetings are fairly regular and take place within the scope of the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, and Labour, though more are welcome to join.

  • Guest Speakers: Thanks to the Windsor Conservatives, we've been able to attend talks with Liz Truss. And thanks to the Egham & Thorpe Conservatives, we've been able to attend a drinks reception with Andrew Griffith MP, as well as a book launch event with Iain Dale (LBC). And we hope to have guest speakers on campus within the coming months!

  • Trips to Parliament: Thanks to our relationship with the Windsor Conservatives (and subsequently Jack Rankin MP) we're able to offer trips to Parliament, where you'll be able to meet MPs and see how everyday Parliamentary activities work.

  • Mock-Parliamentary debates with other Political Societies: Like the cross party socials, this is a really crucial way of expanding the political landscape on campus and talking to other parties, just in a more formal environment.

  • Campaigning with the Egham & Thorpe Conservative branch: With local elections coming up next year, your role in campaigining could be crucial in getting local Conservative councillors elected!
