Filmmaking

Welcome to RHUL Filmmaking Society!

Making Movie Magic!

About Us

Are you obsessed with telling stories that are made not just to be seen or heard, but to be watched? Whether you're a seasoned director already or a hobbyist with a camera, this society is the right place for you!

This year, our committee is adamant on the society being a platform for students, regardless of what course they are in, to meet like-minded creatives and have fun with the art of filmmaking through the 3 C's:

Classes on the technical aspects of filmmaking, including tips and tricks on mastering them

Competitions to allow members to use the creative skills they practised in society sessions

Collaborations through:

  • The production of society-wide films, where members can try different roles in a film crew
  • Sessions with other societies, where members can exercise the versatility of their skills

We hope that by the end of the year, members will've learnt more about the craft, got closer to finding their unique creative voice, or at least made a handful of new friends and memories on and off set.

Membership

This year, purchasing a full-year membership - priced at only £6 - will allow you to:

  • Enter any competition the society runs this year
  • Participate in the production of society films
  • Attend society social events

Events and Activities

This year, we aim to host a wide variety of sessions and events, including:

  • Interactive skill sessions on the different aspects of filmmaking
  • Production of society-wide films at least once a term
  • Social events like watch parties for competition entries, film screenings, SU events, and more!
