About Us
Have a passion for film? Want to create your first or perhaps your hundredth film? Or just simply want to geek out with fellow film enthusiasts? This is the society for you!
We are dedicated to providing a welcoming space where you can meet new people, get creative and hopefully learn something new. Regardless of the course you study or your previous experience in filmmaking, we are here for you. So, let’s get filming!
This year we really want to be proactive in our film making and give everyone a shot at experiencing roles within the industry that they are interested in. Please reach out to us if you have any film ideas, from finished to scripts to a vague concept you came up with… we want to hear about it!
We also want to build on social relationships outside and within the society, holding networking socials, group films and working with other creative societies. Within our society we hope to create lifelong friends that can build on each other’s skills and interests to create fun, artistic and innovative productions!
Membership
This year, we will be delivering out a full year membership for just £6.
By purchasing a membership for Film Society you will have access to all of our production meetings, film viewings (whether online or on-campus), socials, and any other event that we host, as well as the chance to meet a lot of like-minded and dedicated individuals with a passion for, both, watching and making films.
Events and Activities
Over the course of the year, we aim to host a wide variety of events.
- Active experience and learning on society film sets
- Speaker events, where industry professionals come to talk about their experiences creating films
- Production of a society-wide film
- Social events such as SU events like CIYS (Come in your Socs), as well as more relaxed pub socials and screenings
- Cinema and festival trips
- Awards ceremony viewing parties, where we watch together ceremonies, particularly the Oscars
