If you’re looking to develop a new skill, flex your creative muscles, or simply unwind after a day of lectures, you’ll find something in our calendar of Give It A Go events.

These are smaller-scale events that are predominantly alcohol-free and focused on you meeting new people in a fun, relaxed and welcoming environment. Some highlights from Freshers' Festival include our Board Games Night, Laser Quest, a Trip to the Theatre and loads more!

So whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, culture vulture or just love a bit of art and craft, we'll have something for you.

Give Archery a Go: 10th November; Sports Hall; Come and join us for our Archery "Give it a Go" session. Led by our friendly student clubs, learn the basics, test your skills and enjoy a fun, relaxed activity with friends! No experience needed! Plus equipment all provided.

Give It A Go Extravaganza: 13th November; SU Main Hall; With help from Hall Life, Active Lifestyle and Sports, the Money Advice team and Give It A Go this is an extravaganza of free events!

Build a Bouquet: 14th November; Tommy's Lounge; Bring some life to your room with a personalised bouquet of flowers!

MENtion It: Give it a Go Games Night: 17th November; Tommy's Lounge; Come to our Give it a Go event in the Tommy’s Lounge to have an evening full of pizza fun and games.

Give Disability Sports a Go: 17th November; Sports Hall; Come try a variety of disability sports in this `Give it a Go session`. This inclusive, welcoming and fun session is free and open to all students. No prior experience needed, and all equipment provided.

Movie Screening: CODA: 18th November; Tommy's Lounge; Join us for a movie afternoon in celebration of Disability History Month!

GIAG Morse Code Bracelets: 20th November; Tommy's Lounge; Celebrate Disability History Month with us! To highlight that there are so many ways to communicate with each other, we're making Morse code bracelets!

Cupcake Decorating: 21st November; Tommy's Lounge; Come along to our cupcake decorating ‘Give it a Go’ event.

Give Ultimate Frisbee a Go: 24th November; Sports Hall; Come give Ultimate a try! Join us for a fun, beginner-friendly session where you’ll learn the basics of this fast-paced team sport with a flying disc. Open to all abilities and no experience needed. All equipment is provided

Free Hot Chocolate: 26th November; Tommy's Lounge; Grab a free hot chocolate between classes to warm your soul as winter starts to set in.

Give Dance a Go: 1st December; Sports Hall; Join us for a one-off, student-led Christmas Dance Session! Get into the festive spirit, learn some fun choreography and dance the night away with friends. No experience needed, just bring your energy.

Hammer Beads: 4th December; Tommy's Lounge; I hope it wasn't just me who was obsessed with hammer beads when I was like 12? Anyway, we're bringing back this childhood classic for a classic crafternoon!

Gingerbread Decorating: 5th December; Tommy's Lounge; Grab a festive Friday sweet treat, its a reward for getting through the week!

Give Kinball a Go: 8th December; Sports Hall; Come and try Kin-Ball- the fast-paced team sport with a giant inflatable ball! Fun, inclusive, and easy to pick up, this session is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a laugh with friends. No experience needed! Equipment is provided.

Christmas Crafternoon: 11th December; Tommy's Lounge; Get in the festive spirit with some DIY decorations and other crafty bits!

Board Games: 28th December; Tommy's Lounge; Challenge your friends to a nail biting game of Monopoly or break the ice with a game of Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza! If the second game sounds confusing then come on down to give it a go ;)
