Yes! Election time is here and I’m running for VP Education! My name is James, I’m a second year student in Economics, Politics and International Relations and here’s what I’ll do as VP Education:
A lot of us are unhappy with our assessments and the feedback we receive. A Feedback Policy for the University is underway and as VP Education I will make sure this policy is implemented in all departments in the best interest of students! Feedback should be constructive, based on clear criteria, and give us the information necessary to improve! Also, feedback that we give to the college should be processed in a transparent way so we know what is happening with it and we should get an answer back! That is something I will work on together with the college to improve. I also want to lobby the college for more study spaces which are designed to serve students perfectly, including the library, departmental study spaces, PC labs, and so on. And I want to ensure that everyone gets the academic support they need from their department.
Most of us are at University to get a better job. Building a central overview to guide us from first year to our first graduate job will provide us with the tools, knowledge and experience we need for our successful entry into the job market. At the moment there is a lot of information all over the place and no central hub to access which contains a neat overview that tells us what to do, when to do it and how to do it in order maximise our potential and get the job we want straight after graduation! I want us to have that overview!
Most importantly I will listen to what you want and represent ALL OF YOU! Undergraduates, Postgraduates, all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities and nationalities! It’s all about us! Let’s improve our education and employment together as a TEAM, because we deserve it, vote experience, vote enthusiasm, VOTE TEAM JAMES!
