Manifesto

One of the first things I looked up about RHUL when applying was the extent of student participation, because along with democracy, representation and taking responsibility it is very valuable to me. I took responsibility in my former school in many ways as well as in Politics as Co-Founder and Co-President of a Youth Parliament with the aim of improving life of our youth and thereby gathered a lot of experience in representation, governance, finance and many other fields. As Co-President I organised and chaired the General Meetings, organised many events, worked with politicians, public servants and journalists and attended national assemblies. Moreover I had to make many decisions on how to run the institution to optimize its position and to allocate the given resources where they were most needed and had the greatest positive impact possible, which included working together with the committee. At RHUL I have a lot of insight into many areas of the University from the perspectives of a Course Rep, RH100 panellist, Student Ambassador, enthusiast and great supporter of the SU and a student, which gives me a thorough understanding of RHUL and the possibility to apply my knowledge for the student body. I am highly motivated to fulfil this role in a most reliable and accountable manner.

As College Council Rep I would make STUDENT EXPERIENCE at RHUL better! In order to achieve this I would focus on (1)raising education quality, (2)developing a college wide comprehensible and pragmatic feedback policy, (3)keeping fees as reasonable as possible, (4)encouraging the University to make investments that serve the students ideally, including nightlife facilities(!) and (5)on assuring that all student groups are considered when making decisions. Besides that I would work on improving online resources, increasing support for Societies and Clubs, making more rooms available for bookings and elevate the value for money for students. Of course I am always happy to listen to students and their issues, concerns of ideas! Achieving some of these aims requires long-lasting processes. I want to work on making these faster so good ideas can be implemented ASAP and students benefit immediately.

Voting for James means that the College Council will put STUDENTS FIRST!
