Manifesto
Passion for people and their wellbeing started the day I become an elder sister, and has strengthened in my role as President of Catholic Society and SO’s Faith and Culture Representative. These roles have ignited the drive and motivation and equipped me with the skills to listen, to encourage and to represent every one of the 9,000 voices of Royal Holloway.
It won’t be easy but my passion for people is what has got me this far and what will help my little legs carry Royal Holloway to great success. I know the importance of voicing our (sometimes paradoxical) individuality, as we never simply fall under just one box. Being a little brown Catholic girl from West London with a Singaporean Chinese Indian origin – what was once culture clash became a love of cultural celebration through food and conversation.
By organising festivals such as ‘Around the World in 80 plates’, I hope to encourage dialogue from all walks of life through humanities oldest loves of food and music.
I also hope to organise professional workshops and open discussion of sexism, racism, gender, disability, sexuality and mental health especially within faith and culture societies through a series of events called ‘TabooTopics’. By doing so, I hope to breakdown stigma that surrounds these topics within these particular groups and also allow room for open and honest discussion and thus change.
Have faith in me to show you the strength in diversity -
