BULLYING & HARASSMENT.
Bullying can be defined as a repeated pattern of behaviour intended to harm another person, whether that be physically, psychologically, or socially. It is often spoken about a lot in schools, but is something that can affect you at any age.
Harassment is defined in law as any continued attention or action against someone which is unwanted, and is often related to a protected characteristic. According to the Equality Act 2010, these protected characteristics are:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender Reassignment
- Marriage or civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual Orientation
Harassment based on one of these is unlawful discrimination. If you have experienced discrimination in an employment or housing situation, there is help available - find out more from Citizens Advice.
If you have experienced bullying or harassment at university, you can report this via RH Be Heard. This online reporting platform is the quickest way to get support for a concern, and there is also the option to make an anonymous report.
